Trigun Complete Series Box Set

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

I’ll admit that I’m biased about Trigun. Trigun is my favorite anime and it’s a classic. Let me share, with you, why I love it.

First off, Trigun has some really great characters. They all have different motivations, values, and backgrounds. Vash the Stampede is very much motivated by a strong sense of internal morality. Merry is driven by her sense of duty. Millie is a loyal and caring individual. These characters are developed really well and it’s interesting to see how they react to different situations.

The plot follows Vash the Stampede through his various trials and tribulations. It starts very light hearted, as the main plot isn’t revealed too early on, but does get more serious and sad when you get further into the main plot line. It keeps it very interesting with some of the hardships that Vash faces.

It has an interesting soundtrack. Most of the soundtrack is in a Western or jazz style. It definitely improves the feel of the show and provides great effect.

So the series itself is great, one of my favorites. But as I’m watching an episode right now from the DVD… There is odd artifacting in the images, possibly from compression… It wobbles slightly and refocuses constantly & you see blemishes pop up from time to time, kind of like how you’d see if you were watching on a VHS tape. I’m not an expert, so I can’t say for sure but that’s just my opinion. It seems like they just ported the VHS tapes to DVD. The series itself is intact, every episode is there, audio is good. It’s just the image quality itself is pretty bad. It’s just, kinda disorienting. Mostly because of the constantly slight wobble & artifacting of the images while watching. I’m not sure if it’s my player, but none of my other DVD series I own have this strangeness in the image. If you sit far enough from your TV you probably won’t notice it, tho. It’s kind of sad that such a great anime gets such poor treatment when it comes to its DVD release.

The set itself is still pretty good, tho. And, even with the low image quality it’s still completely watchable. Most people might not even notice what I’m seeing anyways. In the end, it’s up to you whether or not to buy it. I say, if you want to own Trigun at a reasonable price, get it. It’s still worth it.

It doesn’t matter what city you travel to. Mentioning the name ‘Vash the Stampede’ always strikes fear into even the most cold-hearted criminal. Vash’s reputation as the Humanoid Typhoon, this dastardly deity of destruction, causes civilians to run away screaming, criminals to impersonate him, and the Bernardelli Insurance Society to investigate him. It is quickly revealed that Vash, the protagonist of Trigun, is actually a donut-chomping, easygoing, womanizing pacifist, a masterful gunman with spiky-blond, Super Saiyan – esque hair who always finds himself in comical situations. In one episode, Vash complains to the audience about his lack of screen time. In another, Vash, while listening to music with his headphones, stumbles into a saloon and becomes a victim in a hostage situation. While following Vash in the show Trigun, it becomes obvious that he’s not your average Joe (and not because of his magnificent marksmanship). Vash, the man who invents lengthy aliases for himself, holds a heartbreaking past and a century’s worth of secrets. Vash the Stampede, the galaxy’s most wanted outlaw (with a 60 billion double-dollar bounty on his head), the man donning that unforgettable red jacket, is among the most interesting and complex characters I’ve ever seen and he’s one of the many great aspects of Trigun.- Bishop Moore
