For Ken Burns lovers, “The West” doesn’t disappoint. Even though I’ve seen several other documentaries and/or movies about the settling of the West, Burn’s “The West” taught me several new things. One of the most disheartening and down right depressing things I learned is how the gold rush impacted the Native Americans and the Spanish/Mexicans in California. I knew Europeans committed heinous acts of brutality, but I didn’t realize it was essentially genocide. I’m truly ashamed that it’s possible some of my ancestors engaged in these horrendous behaviors. I pray they didn’t.-Mary E. Sweeney

Alternate viewpoints of History are always welcome I would recommend this to anyone excellent program-AMR

I enjoyed this series very much, have already watched it twice. Many things I did not know about how the Indians were treated by my country. It was tragic in most cases. Very informative dvd.- CH
