Major Crimes Season 1
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
First off, let me say I’m a huge fan of “The Closer”. I thought it was one of the best shows on television, and I was sad to see it end. I’m glad it came to a good ending though and saying goodbye to Brenda Leigh Johnson felt complete. Mary McDonnell was built up well through the last 2 seasons of “The Closer” so this transition for her to taking the lead of Major Crimes was not abrupt. Many people have been focusing on her in their reviews. She deserves the praise she’s been given. She isn’t competing with Kyra Sedgwick really. She’s a completely different kind of character. She’s older. She’s a mom. She’s got a different energy. Where Brenda Johnson would fire up a room, Captain Raydor will calm it down.
The result is something pretty fun to watch. The other characters have started to change in this environment as the chemistry has changed. Provenza is a bit darker and more of a lead..just as one example. All of the other characters have continued to develop..which is amazing considering for them..this is a season 8.
So if you are a fan of “The Closer”, I highly recommend “Major Crimes”. It’s not a rehashed replacement in my opinion. It is just a good show. I will miss Brenda, Pope, and Gabriel to be sure. I’ll miss the relationship with Fritz and Brenda. The good news is “Major Crimes” is developing some new story arcs for us to enjoy and even a few new characters.
It’s not unlike work in real life. Every few years..the staff does change.

I really enjoyed The Closer with Kyra Sedgwick. I thought sure I would miss her terriblly and dislike Mary McDonnell. I was wrong. The first season with Major Crimes with Mary McDonnell was very good. As each episode continued through the season, I grew to like her character much better as she softened a bit with Rusty. Her defense of her squad also added to her appeal. Now I am eager to see Major Crimes Season Two. Really wonderful to continue to have all the characters from The Closer continue in their same characterizations. G. W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Phillip P. Keene, Graham Patrick Martin (Rusty) & Jon Tenney. Great !

I made it through the first episode. And lost my money on this piece of garbage. I remember Mary McDonnell from Dances with Wolves and she sounds the same now as she did them…very nasal, mostly blank faced and added to that terrible make up and hair.
Why they have Sikes, and the loser Rusty that adds nothing to the show except to make us believe the Chief is a warm and fuzzy person under there somewhere. Maybe they would have been better off borrowing Brenda’s cat.
And the gray haired, grumpy, turned dreadful actor is another one that adds nothing. He should have retired to the nearest Salvation Army headquarters.
I am going to have to watch reruns of The Closer to get rid of the bad taste of this mess called Major Crimes. And ask Amazon for a refund.
