This show is amazing, and when network television was too afraid to renew this amazing series and continue the epic heart-wrenching cinematic marvel that was Hannibal Amazon Prime passed on making it as well. HUGE MISTAKE. I would give my left ventricle to Mads Mikkelsen and the powers that be to keep this show going. Please change your mind Amazon. Please make the change their mind viewers !-Ruby

Is it weird that this show got me very interested in preparing and grilling different types of meats? I mean, we know what the meat in the show is ‘supposed’ to be, but we also know that (as tv producers are not psychopaths) the cuts of meat are regular beef/pork/lamb/etc presented as human flesh. And the show does present scenes of Hannibal preparing his meat in such a beautiful, almost loving way, that one can’t help but get hungry.

Anyway . . . this is one of the first shows I have ever seen to truly genre hop in a fluid and non-jarring manner. It easily bounces from police procedural to slasher to psychological horror to action and even to cooking program with ease, never missing a beat and never letting the audience down. Hugh Dancy (who I generally don’t care about) was surprisingly good, Lawrence Fishburne managed to remind me that he truly is an amazing actor and Mads Mikkelsen absolutely blew me away. I cannot recommend this show highly enough. Though I would warn anyone who tends to be a bit squeamish when it comes to blood and gore that this show definitely pushes the boundaries of what can be shown on TV.

This show is truly enjoyable. It is intelligent, well written and interesting.
Psychiatrist Dr Hannibal Lecter is asked to evaluate burned out FBI agent Will Graham. Hannibal slowly but surely inserts himself into Will’s life and career. We know he intends Will some harm, but just how lethal will this harm be? The audience knows so much more than Will and the other FBI agents. There is the suspense.
The production values are incredible. Hannibal’s apartment is elegant, his clothing wardrobe is the expression of sophistication and sartorial splendor. You could watch the show just for the decor. Then there is the visual presentation of Dr Lecter’s meals and the dinner parties. Beautifully photographed. Cannibal cuisine never looked so delicious. Hannibal is a connoisseur savoring the gourmet menus that result from his murderous forays.
The cast is wonderful and totally believable. How rare to have a cast of talented actors that were not selected on the basis of their pretty faces. Mads Mikkelson is incredible. He is subtle and sensuous and slyly menacing. Hugh Dancy is equally interesting as the conflicted agent Will Graham. Not to mention the talented Lawrence Fishburne and Gillian Anderson. It’s a joy to watch them.
