Continuum Season 2
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
Continuum is worth the hype. After discovering season one while it was still just a small Canadian show, I’ve been salivating for the second season. In the months since the first season ended though, Continuum has blown up in the US and while I am incredibly grateful for this–I was worried that it would somehow be affected or influenced in a negative manner given a bigger budget and larger audience.
While the special effects used have been consistently top notch, the reason why this show works so well for me is not because it’s scifi, but because of its emphasis on the characters. Personally, I think one of the greatest achievements of a scifi picture, is when it can let the viewer actually forget that is what they are watching. When the setting and characters are so authentic, that it’s simply real. And I believe Continuum not only accomplished that in the first season, but that they are also nailing it in this season as well.
Part of the larger budget has gone into better production quality, and it makes it visually an even more pleasure than watching the first. All the characters are back in a big way, and the storylines being set up are delicious. Enough cannot be said about Rachel Nichols acting. She is capable of both intense vulnerability as well as total and complete world domination. Very few actresses in Hollywood could even begin to attempt to pull Kiera off, but Nichols is simply captivating. The actor playing Kellog is also somewhat of a revelation. I know you’re supposed to hope for Kiera to either make it back to her own time to be with her husband or end up with Carlos, but Kellog is just awesome. However, the relationship between Kiera and Alec is what really drives the show for me though, and season two succeeds in building off of the foundation in season one as well as greatly raising the stakes.
Continuum is hands down one of the best tv shows currently on air. It has the plot, setting, characters, dialogue etc etc. Not to mention it also raises some very interesting ethical issues regarding big business versus governments with direct correlations to our current world (for anyone looking for some deeper content in their entertainment). I honestly think most people would enjoy it as well. It transcends its genre by focusing on telling a freaking good story—–and who doesn’t like an awesome story?
***Just a heads up, for those of you who love Continuum and are looking for more in the same vein, I would check out this British spy thriller, Hunted (Mort). It’s not sci-fi, but I found it had similar sensibilities, albeit a more serious tone–and personally loved it.

I am a huge sci fi fan, have been since Star Trek TOS when it aired during my Junior High School years!(just really dated myself) Regardless, I stumbled across Continuum on Netflix and it took me a few weeks before I finally clicked on the icon to give the show a try, man am I glad I did! I watched season 1 in one week, but I had not realized that season 2 had already begun, so thankful for Amazon Instant Video. I am caught up now and the DVR is set for the rest of the season. This show is outstanding. Multiple character development, a flash forward flash back story line that keeps a viewer glued, hoping to figure out the next revelation. The ensemble cast does a fabulous job and Rachel Nichols lead character work is first rate, absolutely fantastic! The CGI is great, not too over the top and the camera angles used during some of the scenes really bring you into the action in a very unique way. each episodes Direction is superb and I have to give a big shout out to the sound team! From on location recording, to studio mixing and editing, to foley, all of it is blended beautifully. I never miss any dialog, even when s*** is blowing up all around the characters in a scene, good work people! This show is what makes watching television great and it deserves a long run.

This sci-fi show tells the story of a group of convicts and one law enforcer, Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols), who travel back in time to 2012 (Vancouver) from 2077. There are lots of plot twists to keep this story interesting. Basically this is a cop show like so many these days, but this one has the extra element of being able to cross reference between time zones with a plot that becomes more and more twisted as it develops. The future is portrayed as a corporatocratic and oligarchic dystopia, though with apparent freedom under a technologically-advanced high surveillance police state. The lines are blurred as to who really are the good guys and the bad guys, and whether or not the law enforcer truly is fighting for the right side despite her beliefs to the contrary. This makes for some interesting dynamics and conflicts along the way. This show is quickly paced with non stop action, excellent acting, and first rate special effects.
There are commentaries on 11 of the 13 episodes, and a behind the scenes featurette which is 73 minutes long that has interviews with the actors and creators of the show.
