Dracula Season 1
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
If you saw the Tudors, you know Jonathan Rhys Myers can really bring a riveting intensity to a role. He nails it in this series. I am super, SUPER bummed that the producers decided to cancel it- There are plenty of other poor quality series that at least make it past season 2. I think this was a stupid call, and judging by the number of other upset fans, there are quite a number of us Dracula lovers in big time withdrawal.
I HIGHLY recommend watching it. It doesn’t have quite the graphic sex scenes as Game of Thrones, but the chemistry of the wedding dance scene where Dracula dances with Mina, shows you how much sexual energy, jealousy, despair and rage can be conveyed with something as simple as a close up of two well cast characters in a pivotal plot moment, dancing in front of a ballroom filled with people. Watch the faces of the groom, Jonathan Harker, the hunts woman, and the secretly lesbian best friend, Lucy, and you will see what I mean. Really well shot scene.
Whoever runs this series, PLEASE come to your senses and bring it back. I am sick of transformers, meth heads, superheros and bike gangs. This is a classic of literature, and this first season takes a classic and brings it to life.

I am super upset I missed this on NBC !! I would have totally watched this and now I would love for a season 2 .I love Bram Stoker’s Draculla so I enjoyed the spin on it. Very refreshing and innovative. The accent was horrible as all Dracula accents should be and JRM delivered beautifully. It was wonderful to hear him change from that bigger than life Victorian era-American accent to a subtle foreign one. The cast was well rounded Renfield was a perfect twist. As well as the female Vampire hunter. Jonathan was still his usual boring, angry self and Lucy was still the adorable, cheeky friend.. The sets were elaborate and in line with Bram stoker’s theme. I would love for a season 2 but hey it came out so long ago I’m sure JRM is working on something else.
Five stars for innovation, Drama, and A great cast.

This is an update on the vampire tale! Beautifully played by Jonathon Rys Meyer’s. The show has lots of surprises from lesbian and gay characters to Van Helsing attempting to cure Dracula by blood transfusions. This enables him to go out in daylight. Very reminiscent of Dark Shadows’ Barnabas and Julia.
It’s not a bad series at all and has intersting characters and motivations, many different from the novel not in a way to change it exactly, but to keep it fresh. I mean, c’mon, Dracula has been done sooo much. But, this 10 episode series is pretty fun.
