Royal Pains Season 7
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
I love this series. I am extremely disappointed in USA (and, of course its parent company, NBC, which has a HORRIBLE record as far a I concerned) for not giving this series a true commitment. When a network orders only 8 episodes a season, it forces the writers to condense their story lines and some of Hank’s fantastic improvisations and the wonderful interactions are missing from this season. I don’t blame the actors (always stellar performances) or the writers, but the network for not giving this fantastic series the commitment it deserves.
NBC, by the way, has a horrible record for doing this self-same thing to wonderful shows in the past, on many of its networks, like cancelling Startgate SG1 right after it celebrated 200 episodes with the best numbers the series had seen in its history.

A series about decent but flawed people, each trying to do the right thing–Dr. Hank is a concierge doctor in the extremely wealthy Hamptons, the MacGyver of medicine. He is titular head of a medical group called HankMed, ostenibly led by its chief financial officer, Hank’s younger brother, a guy who pulls off wearing pastels like no other, who marries a wealthy local, Paige Collins. Their physician assistant is Divya Katdare, the beautiful and talented young woman of Indian descent who escapes a planned marriage, and they take on a brilliant young talent, Dr. Jeremiah Sacani, who has Asperger’s. Hank and brother Evan first take up residence in the fabulous castle of Boris Kuester von Jurgens-Ratenicz, an incredibly handsome and mysterious billionaire with clandestine ties all around the world. Lots of great episodes in this series, with very little of today’s blood and gore violence, except as pertains to medicine. It’s the MacGyver in Hank–and Divya–that really carries the show, although my personal favorite is Dr. Sacani, brilliantly played by Ben Shenkman.

At a time of the world when there isn’t too much focus on good, clean, low bloodshed TV anymore, this is a wonderful program that reminds us, thru every episode, that friends and family are too often overlooked or under appreciated. Thank you to a wonderful group of actors and actresses that so easily and kindly reinstall our family values in a sensitive and caring way. This program is so well done, brings so much joy, that when I got to the end of my Netflix seasons, I literally had tears in my eyes concerned I would not be able to watch this show anymore. I was sooo happy to see it come up in Amazon and then went online to see the show had been renewed for this season and a season 8. I’m addicted to the great moral values and compassion this program brings to light and the joy this program instills in me. One of the few programs that I look forward to watching each night. So good, in fact, I am self limiting how many I watch and when. They are treated as a precious commodity. One episode, every other night so they aren’t gone so fast! Great job to all that make this program such great watching!!!!
