Nurse Jackie Season 7
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
Jackie’s addiction becomes unmanageable, while Kevin behaves evasively, O’Hara becomes ER chief, Coop’s mothers divorce, and Eddie, who is back at the hospital, begins dating Jackie’s newly single sister-in-law.
Thought the series is mainly about ONE woman, her personality, her genius, her addiction; and how she interacts with her environment and the people in it.
I think the FEEL is like it feels in the ER, except there are EXTREMELY few nurses…or doctors, as adept as Jackie is at medicine. This is sort of an idealized hospital, and staff, and administration; which makes it enjoyable in itself. But, even if Jackie was a doctor, she would still be way too outstanding to be anything other than very rare. AND it takes constant education to keep up.
Plus, to play fast and loose with ordering labs and handing out medications would all by itself lose a nurse her license. About the only way it would not is if a doctor covered her and that would take a good deal of trust on the doctor’s behalf…but they built that into the series.
I find it hard to believe someone as chemically impaired as Jackie could function without making a lot of mistakes. I find it hard to believe a pharmacist could hand out narcotics for as long as her “lover” did without getting nabbed…or being as happy about it as that pharmacist seemed to be.
There are a lot of flaky doctors, but they are NOT just newbies. Mainly, it is just lack of caring on the part of staff that makes them poor…that…and the number of nurses that got in with just a tad over basic intelligence, and number of doctors with just a tad more than that.
But, I think that it is the pain of being an addict; of not being able to change no matter what is on the line…. The incomprehensible, frustrating, destruction it brings to all that care for them…. And the horrible destruction of someone that is of value.
Acting, photography excellent.
Rare nudity…which was NOT needed. Studios, keep the actors clothes on. This might have been a good film to help kids put into perspective the damage getting on that first set of pills might do to you and your life…but what parent wants to show their kid a series with the sudden exposure of big floppy boobs here and there? Though…that too happens at the hospital, and in the break rooms…and addicts succumb. I guess parents may just have to watch first and know where to speed the series up. Foul language, just seems to be the norm now. But for the most part I think the series tries to hold it, and the sex down to what would be normal in real life.

(Slight Spoiler Alert) This series just gets better and better. So happy that Jackie reunites with her first fling, Eddie. She is, in essence, dating her “dealer”…..but he WAS the only one who loved her for who she was when everyone else abandoned her. And I mean everyone. Pretty shitty for O’Hara to ditch, then show up in the final episode to give Jackie a high and mighty lecture…especially after her early role as enabler. My absolute favorite scene was Dr. Roman and Zoe on shrooms in the park, bonding as gfs. So random. Akolitus takes accountability for her misdirected power trip, but hardly soon enough. Her hypocritical evolution into pit bull was a fail on the writers’ parts. Jackie’s relationship with her Moon Pie-faced brat of a daughter had its obligatory wrap up with the college drop off. None too soon. See ya kid, punt. Sad to see Zoe become somewhat of a disillusioned nurse, albeit a mature one. Thank you, Showtime, for such a fabulous ride!
