The actual raid on Entebbe was one of the most heroic and ingenious military operations to ever take place, and just the intelligence gathering and overall military decision making processes from that mission are of the upmost importance for war colleges to understand, even to this day. Operation Thunderbolt (raid on Entebbe) should never be neglected in military history and studies. This movie did the actual operation no justice, and if anything it was a disgrace.Fortunately, Amazonprime does have the 1976 made for TV version, of the ACTUAL Raid On Entebbe, which I can’t recommend enough. It was directed by Irvin Kershner (Empire Strikes Back) and stars James Woods, Charles Bronson, John Saxon, and too many other great actors to count. Although there were slight discrepancies of actual accounts from the Soldiers who’ve been there, compared to this particular Hollywood version, it is said that Kershner’s depiction was relatively accurate, and overall he did a great job…I agree. Bear in mind this was a made for TV movie, low budget and with a limited time to film however. This is why I couldn’t wait to see this “spectacular”, high-budget, modern movie, depicting the actual raid, which has been envied throughout decades, but with now the modern-day special effects and in high definition!-Ray
As a student of military history I was expecting something similar to the classic “Raid on Entebbe”, but unfortunately it is a story that tries to get people to sympathize with and feel sorry for the terrorists instead. This is nothing more than pandering to the “palestinians” and excuse making for their acts of terrorism & murder. It is basically pro-terrorist propaganda. Also, the weird cuts to the dancing scenes were absolutely unnecessary and irrelevant to the overall story and served no purpose other than a weak attempt at being “artistic”. I wish I could get a refund for this purchase.- John H.
First, those who have said that this glorifies terrorism couldn’t be more in error. The comments by the Flight Engineer, a plumber is worth five freedom fighters, a engineer is worth 50 freedom fighters.. is the direct confrontation with the romantic notion of being a revolutionary held by the Baader-Meinhopf terrorists.- yjt43y7
