Jazz a film by ken burns
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
The two most prominent Dukes are Tom Wopat and John Schneider, two musclebound amateurs who probably won their new jobs because they look like John Travolta and Andy Gibb without brains. The sex interest is Catherine Bach, who is built along the lines of Dolly Parton, apparently the only necessary qualification. – Donn Downey
The series, calculated to exploit the success of good ol’ boy movie hits like “Smokey and the Bandit,” more closely resembles those hillbilly postcards sold in remote rural areas that aren’t quite remote enough. Within five minutes, the program is out of breath from pandering so pantingly to its audience…If this show succeeds, every television critic in America may as well quit. -Tom Shales
The Dukes of Hazzard incorporates virtually every cliche of the Burt Reynolds, good ol’ boy school of drive-in diversion. Two lusty young cousins – Bo and Luke Duke – throttle around dusty Hazzard County, tweaking the nose of the law and jes’ raisin’ hay-ull. Other regulars include the obligatory ice-cream-suited political boss, the obligatory cretinish sheriff and the obligatory hotpants waitress (naturally named Daisy). Unless you happen to be a pickup truck, you would be well advised to bypass Hazzard. – Harry F. Waters and Martin Kasindorf
