American Dad Season 4

This is another excellent volume in the series. Stan Smith a CIA agent extraordinaire, and “Roger” an alien from unknown quadrants of the universe…, ( both of them voiced by Seth Mcfarlane ) basically carry this show with their humorous rapid-fire comments and interaction. I like Family Guy, another of Seth McFarlane’s well known and successful creations, but American Dad is simply a better show. The characters in American Dad are more comfortable and less restrained than on Family Guy. Unlike Peter Griffin, Stan Smith is not limited to being a naive idiot who stumbles into humorous situations but is a more developed character with a wider vision of the world and a better appreciation for his kids… although… ( like Peter Griffin …) he’s perpetually disappointed in his daughter…, ( although he does not physically and psychologically abuse her , like Peter Griffin does to his daughter Meg… I always hate that aspect of Peter Griffin’s personality ), Stan is distressed over his daughter Hayley because of her rebellious liberal activist views. But there is a loving relationship under the surface in the Smith Family that simply does not come through in the Griffin family. Along with the humor there is a general warmth to the Smith family that makes it more attractive. It’s a series that has a lot of adult humor, but it’s not overt or disgusting. The series can be watched by both kids and adults though kids younger than teenage probably will not understand most of the humor. The DVD’s worked perfectly.-Mike Silverman

I’m well aware that American dad has its haters, and I don’t always disagree with the criticisms. However, I really think the show keeps improving, both in writing and comedic jokes. To me this deserves recognition as most shows rely on the same tired formula and writing, which eventually gets lazy and repetitive (see the office). American Dad has really tried to make itself a bit better as it grows, and this season shows it. I’m not going to argue that its shakespeare, or the best comedy going, but I give credit where credit is due. This volume made me laugh constantly, and unlike most american dad episodes, they didn’t feel quite so disposable. If you’re a fan of american dad, its a no brainer, get it, you’ll love it. If you have seen the show, and only kind of like it, this volume may surprise you, give it a chance.- M. Herzog

The cast of characters in this DC Family will have you roaring with laughter. From the Far Right Father to his Far Left Hippy Daughter and the hilarious wife to the Nerd Son who doesn’t meet the fathers expectations and the talking Gestapo fish and of course an alien (a la from out in space alien) complete just the immediate family but the friends and neighbors wont let you down either.
