Bones Season 12

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Everyone who escaped before the bomb went off on the Jeffersonian’s forensic platform is milling around outside, taking stock of the gutted building, reuniting with friends, and wondering how to get to Brennan, Booth, Hodgins, and Angela, trapped inside. Aubrey tells Saroyan and Vaziri that they don’t have Kovac; he had taped a decoy cell to a delivery van.

Inside the Jeffersonian, Booth searches for Brennan and has to lift debris off her. She opens her eyes, coughs, and immediately realizes that something is wrong with her. Booth reminds her she was going to the bone lab for evidence in Fred Walden’s remains that would help them find Kovac — she finds a note in her lab coat pocket that reads: femur, scapula, ulna, mandible. “I don’t know what that means,” Brennan says, in a direct callback to the series premiere.

While Hodgins and Booth look for a way out or for a way to contact search and rescue, Brennan uses a beaker and a stethoscope to check for a heartbeat in Angela’s fetus. Everything checks out there too. After the search and rescue team haul them out, a neurologist takes a look at Brennan. He determines that she has bruised her corpus callosum, which is causing her to be unable to make inferences in the way she used to.

The show is ending in a good place. This season isn’t as strong as the show in its heyday, However, it’s a vast improvement over last season. Booth had become a pushy jerk, some of the episodes just didn’t work, and the Hodgkins becomes a monster because he became a cripple subplot just seemed completely out of character and poorly written.

This season is fun again. The episodes have raised their quality. (I felt the conclusion of the Audrey and his father subplot was disappointing, but everything else works.) Booth has become more likable again. As the last season, the writers are clearly trying to have everyone end in a good place and it’s working. Also, glad to have Audrey back for a third season. Love this guy and he’s one of the best parts of these last 3 seasons.

Series finales can be tricky, especially with shows that have been on the air for many years because fans expect a lot.

There are always multiple story lines, characters, and loose ends that should be tied up before it’s all over.

To do it in a way that satisfies everyone is almost impossible, but Bones Season 12 Episode 12 left me smiling and content, which is far better than several of my favorite shows have done.
