Chicago Fire Season 5

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

A worthy entry in Dick Wolf’s CHICAGO franchise! I was initially planning to move to Chicago and thought the show would shed some light on the city’s conditions and routines. As it turns out, my plans fell through, possibly my decision was indirectly influenced by the show. But, Dick Wolf, as with LAW & ORDER, knows a great concept when he sees it and can get you hooked just by one episode. Since the first episode, the first alarm is always the most gripping. The cast is superb (despite the departure of Mills and Shay) and the brilliance of Chief Boden (the always watchable Eamonn Walker who I remember being so gripping on OZ). Not a false note or moment and the cast give it their all. I have been known to cry in many an episode and I’m a pretty tough guy as they come. Of the four CHICAGO series of which I’m sure are just as top notch, FIRE burns quite brightly! I’ve collected every episode since season 1. I intend to keep going on through season 6! Bravo and keep it up!- CJG

This is the best drama on television. This season: Chief Bowen encounters a recently promoted commanding officer, fragile-ego man, Anderson, who displays poor judgement. Anderson nearly loses several f.fighters on a fire/ rescue run, until Bowden sees the dangerous situation, with unstable stacked sewer pipes on an industrial truck, responds quickly & counter-mans Anderson’s order. Bowen, always the diplomat, instructs those of #51 to learn from this incident & not to diminish Anderson, not to gossip. Normally self-centered Severide donates
his bone marrow to nice young woman (not his typical party-girl) ) Anna, a pediatric nurse & he falls hard for her.

Two employees of #51 jointly write a romance novel. JC freezes out union rep/ friend Mouch who’s unable to prevent JC’s suspension after an (off-duty) conduct un-becoming charge. Mouch considers retiring or getting a non-ff job.

Senior firefighter Herrmann gives an occasional pep talk to the crew at the firehouse, the hospital waiting room or at Molly’s ( where he is 1/3 owner). Chief Bowden is the moral compass of #51. He is clear in what he wants and expects of the men and women of #51. When Anderson interfered w/ #51 assignments, Bowden cleverly set things to ‘rights.’

4 of our firefighter heroes from firehouse #51 get trapped in a huge warehouse fire at the end (of the season.)

I love all the Chicago shows: Fire, Med & Police. I like the human & relationship/s side of these shows. And all fast-paced but not violent, crazy or sicko gory. Chicago PD gets a little violent but not like some of the other police & detective shows. I very best ever police/fire/ER show ever was “Third Watch” (early 1090s). Unfortunately, only 2 seasons were released.
