DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Very well written. Dr. Ellingham’s character is entertaining (but not so much if you actually live someone with that type of personality disorder) and interesting. I did feel like the first three episodes of this season were just a little thin, but picked up with the fourth episode. I wish there were American shows that could be written with the same amount of character developement, story line and humor – without relying on sexually provocative or violent content.- Fleas

I could only stomach 2 episodes of this DVD. Season number 8. Reason: Martin Clune’s wife, (Philippa Braithwaite), is no longer the story writer; producer, or director. It is quite evident. The series should have ended after the 7th season. Very stiff characters. Almost forced acting. It’s as if they lost the magic completely. PC Penhale has been Dumbed Down even more so than in the past. I will not waste my time looking for a 9th season, UNLESS Clune’s wife returns. Season 8 is a stinker. Steve-SteveO

Hardly the season plot lines I’d expected and yet, thankfully the series is opening up to more years yet with the new directions laid out. More like the first series as it’s more about the village people and how the main characters help them. Yeah for going back to what worked as season 6 was a harsh and glaring look at a marriage falling apart while season 7 started to tensely restore the balance in their marriage and found a few comical aspects in it.
Guess the celebrity fandom of Sigourney Weaver was well received as they brought her back in a slightly over the top plot line. I don’t see what the charm is as I was as unimpressed with her first cameo as her second,- Kay
