Father Knows Best Season 5

The Father Knows Best seasons were all well done. I was a little disappointed that in the last two seasons three or four were previous shows done as a flash back. I have always loved the show, in fact, when I built my house, I tried to find house plans as close to the Anderson house as I could. The family everyone would love to be!

I have been collecting the DVD’s of Father Knows Best for a few years and have been waiting to get the Season 5 DVD. The video stores didn’t have it but I found it on Amazon. Thank you Amazon!! My absolute favorite Father Knows Best episode is on this DVD – The Great Anderson Mystery. There were so many great family shows that are now classics. In the 50’s – Father Knows Best, 60’s – The Donna Reed Show, 70’s – The Brady Bunch and The Partridge Family. Father Knows Best led the way for all of these shows. The kids had their disagreements and their spats but in the end it was the family bond that pulled them through all the rough times. And don’t forget that other classic of the 60’s – Please Don’t Eat the Daisies with Patricia Crowley.

I bought this Season Five DVD set because I remember Robert Young in Marcus Welby MD but must admit I had never seen the earlier series “Father Knows Best”. The interaction between the family on “Father Knows Best” is excellent and it wasn’t long before I realised I was pleased to have bought the DVDs. I especially liked the interesting story lines and it was well acted. But the thrill for me was the accompanied special of “Window on Main Street: The Editor’s Daughter” which guest starred Brenda Scott as the main character. This episode was so well acted and enjoyable to watch. I was absolutely transfixed for the whole time. Television of that era was so different. You got close-ups of the actors when they were speaking and the stories were so suitable for families, no bad language, just fun to watch. I highly recommend anyone to go back in time and enjoy this era once again.
