Grantchester Season 3 UK Region

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

In the Season 3 premiere, an impossible situation distracts Sidney from his Christmas duties. Then, a would-be groom is found dead with the wedding rings lodged in his mouth — the hallmarks of a years-old unsolved murder.

When one of the boys in the Christmas pageant rehearsal shouts his line, “Behold, I bring you tidings of grave joy,” handsome British Vicar Sidney Chambers quickly corrects him with “It’s ‘great’ joy.”

The boy is sort of right, of course. This is “Grantchester,” and dead bodies seem to find the crime-solving minister — or he finds them. They’re never in short supply in the bucolic town that gives the series its name.

In the first episode of the third season, it’s 1954, a week before the holiday, and Sidney (James Norton) has a wedding to preside over — only the groom doesn’t show. A search finds that he has cold feet, along with the rest of his body. Soon, the vicar is paired up again with local police Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green) to solve the murder.

When questioning the bride-to-be (Maimie McCoy) — a stripper at a local club who was tying the knot with an older man — Sidney asks whether she was getting married for love. She says yes, adding a bit sarcastically while glancing at his collar, “You sound like you know what it means.”

Actually, he does. The man of god has seen hell. Sidney is a decorated World War II vet who found the horrors of combat and killing so awful that he turned toward religion and away from his childhood sweetheart, Amanda (Morven Christie).
