Happy Days Six Season Pack
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
It makes my heart happy just to THINK about Happy Days. Right away, I picture Richie Cunningham and the Fonz, his parents and sister Joanie, Potsy and Ralph Malph. And I start humming the song! Ron Howard as Richie and Henry Winkler as Fonzie were true standouts. The Fonz in particular became a cultural icon.
Happy Days ran for 11 seasons from 1974 to 1984. At its best during the early years when Richie and his friends were still in high school, it did take a little while to really gain its footing. But once the show jettisoned Richie’s older brother (who lived in the garage apartment and communicated only by bouncing his basketball) and expanded the initially minor role of Fonzie, it really took off. After 7 seasons, Ron Howard left the show and it slowly went downhill. In an attempt to reclaim viewership, one episode featured Fonzie literally jumping a shark, hence originating the phrase “to jump the shark” in the context of a television show desperately attempting to reclaim viewers. I was surprised to learn that Fonzie jumped the shark in the season premiere of episode 5; I thought it was much later.
Regardless, Happy Days is definitely worth watching! Just know when to quit. Once it starts going downhill, it’s not going to get any better. It’s worth noting that only the first six seasons were released on DVD. There’s a reason for that.
The show also spun off Mork and Mindy, Laverne and Shirley, and Joanie Love Chachi.
