Inferno [Blu-ray]

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Being a big fan of the Robert Langdon books and of Tom Hanks this was a must see for me. I enjoyed the movie but I’m not sure I would have liked it quite as much had I not already read the book. I know better than to expect a movie to ever be as good as the book but this one comes across as more of a straight-up action film. For some reason I can’t fathom they chose to omit a lot of the historical background, one of the key elements that make the books and previous movies so interesting and memorable, We just don’t get to see the wheels in Robert’s mind turning like we did in the previous movies; what we do get to see is him running and bleeding a lot. As I said, I did enjoy it as an action film and don’t regret buying it but I’m sure I won’t being watching it multiple times as I have “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons”. I’m sure I will read the book again at some point in the future and hope for those who watch the movie first that it doesn’t put them off from reading the book, that would be a real shame. Too bad they didn’t make a movie for “The Lost Symbol”; now that’s a book with the potential to make a truly outstanding movie.- Tempokitty

The draw of the first two movies for me was the historical and puzzle solving aspect. This movie had very little of that and the story was a bit predictable. The way it was filmed was also a bit annoying. I understand that they were trying to make you feel add if you were in the same mental fog as Tom Hanks but it just wasn’t my thing. Also, I felt like they were trying to see how many times they could have Tom Hanks character get hit on the head and still be believable. The lead female character was very predictable and not well portrayed. Much of the dialogue involving her felt forced and poorly acted. It’s not a complete waste of your time but I wouldn’t put this movie on a must see list.- ase

I admire Tom Hanks’ acting skill, but he wasn’t given much to work with here. I will always prefer any book to the movie, but I appreciate well done book to screen adaptations. This doesn’t come close being a faithful, or even coherent, telling of the book. I wonder if the screenwriter bothered to read the book at all. It isn’t my favorite Dan Brown book, but they had much better material to work with than thin plot they cobbled together. All of the historic details and the charm of the Robert Langdon character is missing here. It isn’t even movie of the week material. Save your money and spend it on something worth watching. The only stars given here are for the obvious effort Tom Hanks made to try and make something out of this mess.- LT
