Knight Rider – The Complete Series

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

I guess the most important part of this is to say that the product is functional and it does indeed deliver the entire series as promised. There is something however to be said for the shipping method that was used to send these. Part of buying an entire series like this is he ability to display those packages on a bookshelf or in a collection etcetera etcetera. That can’t be done with this because the packaging on this is straight cardboard which is really nice looking except they shipped it with another similar package in a plane bubble wrap envelope with nothing between them so the packaging on the sets is more or less destroyed. Functional yes. Displayable no. Really should consider how you ship these items because the only way we’re going to be able to keep these now is to buy individual cases for these DVDs or a book to put them in.- Steve Scott

Alright. The reason why its almost the complete series is because the season 3 premier is a syndicated edit version and not the original episode in its entirety (which sucks because it is one of my favorites). With that gripe aside, the rest of the episodes appear to be intact. The color and sound are fantastic and they’ve removed virtually all of the film’s anomalies (except for “Trust Doesn’t Rust” where there are these two blue stripes down the left side during the first several seconds which might be nigh to impossible to remove). I do agree with another reviewer that during some of the darker lit scenes there is quite a bit of “grain” to them but as for the soundtrack, all of the songs but one (“Go For It/The Second Time” by Kim Wilde) are not the original versions and indeed are remakes for the show. Read The Knight Rider Companion and it will explain this. With the exception of said gripe and lack of features (no bonuses, extra episodes, etc.) it’s still quite good. Just want to add that the soundtrack is in mono. That’s not a dealbreaker for me since most/all shows were that way up until the mid to late eighties.- Dave A. Bareither

Like all of the modern released of “Knight Rider,” this set lacks the original pop and rock songs heard when the series was originally broadcast. Younger viewers probably won’t notice this, but people who remember watching it during the original television run and later syndication should. Basically, it’s as if a talented karaoke band were recreating the songs. By no means is this a deal-breaker, because the as-broadcast episodes with their original soundtracks literally cannot be purchased today, unless you’re a VHS fan.The video quality in general is quite good, though obviously not on par with a modern 1080p release. Bright scenes (which are the majority) have very good detail and color, but I found that very dark scenes seem to have had some sore of artificial “film grain” filter applied to them. The discs’ authors evidently thought that this would maintain the illusion of the series as having been in Full-HD all along; to me, it just looks like a cheap digital attempt at enhancement and I would rather that they had left the old analog blurriness in.-Shepa
