Nashville Season 4

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

In the fourth season of this drama, a now-healthy Deacon (Charles Esten) feels guilty as Beverly (Dana Wheeler-Nicholson) grows gravely ill, and Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) experiences problems with her mental health in the wake of Cadence’s birth. Eventually, her erratic behavior takes its toll on Avery (Jonathan Jackson), who asks for a divorce. Meanwhile, Rayna (Connie Britton) works hard on saving her failing label by signing Markus Keen (Riley Smith), a high-maintenance pop star who wants to break into the country-music scene. Rayna’s life at home is no less stressful, as she has to deal with an increasingly rebellious Maddie (Lennon Stella), who seeks independence and a music career of her own.

Love the show from the beginning, but now that I’ve watched this season once again (much closer to details I missed first time) it becomes clear why Connie Britton left the show. I could count on one hand how many songs she sang for any reason and I believe neither she nor the show wanted her character to ‘just be’ a mom with girls growing up, finally with the man she’s always loved, and the head of a finally MAJOR player in the Nashville record industry. I felt that her performing on tour as well as trying to stay creative, fighting for her right to change her sound. Stop having fights with Jeff Fordham as Edgehill was dissolved and she bought their artists. Then she gets to buy Wheeling Dealin records and all their artists including Luke. And finally she isn’t fighting with Juliette who she has helped even in the beginning. She got Deacon, the girls, the Exes, Will, Avery, Layla, Luke, etc… She’s finally got EVERYTHING and yet the best they can do is come up with more car crashes, plane crashes, gospel music…then writing the final album as a cowrite with Decon about their relationship from beginning to present. What left would there be for a lead singing character to do?? I’m waiting to see where things go now that things have come to light unknown by most which honestly makes little logical sense.
