One of my favorite shows of the 80’s and early 90’s and I’m so glad that Shout Factory has released all 8 seasons (season 8 in March 2017). However, I do wish that they could have found better quality sources for these DVD’s as the picture is fuzzy like I’m watching an old videotape rather than sharp like other digital media.-Mumblix
Quite possibly my favorite season of this long running show. As Newhart progressed, it tended to become more anarchic, more surreal – almost a Green Acres of the 1980s with all the strange characters. This season includes the storyline of Michael losing his job at WPIV, which leads to working in a grocery store, working as a mime and being placed in a sanitarium Writers ran with the concept, and it did make for some very funny moments.Another favorite is Larry telling Dick that Johnny Carson pays the gas bill for him and Darryl and Darryl. I won’t spoil it if you haven’t seen it, but the ending scene is a a moment that still makes me laugh every time I see it. Newhart is my favorite sitcom from the 80s, and unlike a lot of things that I grew up with, this one still holds up, nearly 30 years later (this is the 88-89 season).- Mark Blevins
“Newhart” is a classic and it is the seventh season; the season in which the insanity escalates, MTM pushed the boundaries and the show was at its peak.This season includes Rebecca Schull thrilled to be a guest in town for a book burning of Dick’s books. We ride through couples therapy with Dick and Joanna as well as Michael and Stephanie. Dick writes a book in collvaboration with Eileen Brennen, Michael spends a month in a psychiatric hospital and George reunites with the love of his life who-despite a one nighter-is still not ready to settle down.-David Seaman
