Orange Is the New Black Season 6

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

When the season opens with a fantasy sequence—and a really bad one at that—you know you’re in trouble. OITNB has Jumped the Shark. I didn’t mind Season 5 at all but during this set I was watching more out of habit than anything else. The first half drags and we’re introduced to some new inmates and guards now that a lot of our old favorites have been transferred to Maximum Security. The guards aren’t bad and some of the new girls are tolerable, but Badison (Amanda Fuller) with her annoying Boston accent was even worse than Ruby Rose in Season 3. Also, giving Aleida (Elizabeth Rodriguez) major screen time even though she’s now on the outside was a misstep.

Things pick up half-way in as the drama increases and fates hang in the balance. Taystee goes to trial and Piper may be getting early release. Danielle Brooks once again shows her dramatic chops which is surprising considering how much she was used for the comic relief when the show began. Her scenes with Caputo (Nick Sandow) are heart-rending.

The best thing about Season 6 is the introduction of long-feuding sisters Carol and Barb Denning (Henny Russell, MacKenzie Phillips) also known as the Little Debbie Murderers. Their flashback was one of the best ones yet and I would have watched an entire TV-miniseries based on their story.

Season 7 is going to be the last and it’s about time they put this show to bed. It was fun in the beginning but has overstayed its welcome.
