Person of Interest Season 4

Looking for a show to watch ever since I finished watching Fringe(One of the best shows ever)and 24, I was looking for anything that even sort of caught my interest and this show got me instantly. Firstly, it wasn’t so much the idea of the show that got me, it was Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson. I loved Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ, and Michael Emerson as the enigmatic Benjamin Linus in Lost. Looking at both of these guys and their work, they’ve been in a lot of stuff. So, I decided to give it a try. To be honest it didn’t take long. Into the first episode, Mr. Reese who’s played by Jim Caviezel is a bum riding a train. These punk kids try to take this bums liquor bottle away and all of a sudden he goes international spy on em’. That’s it, I was in.
The whole premise of the show begins when Michael Emerson, who plays the tech wiz Harold Finch, arranges a meeting with Mr. Reese so he can hire him. Mr. Finch built this massive surveillance machine that records everyone all the time and has information to help people in danger, and even though he sold the machine to the government, he can still access it. This is where Mr. Reese comes in.
Not to spoil anything, the shows humor and action goes a long way. Plus, you have to give two thumbs up to Detective Carter, who’s played by Tarahi P. Jensen. Two thumbs up to Detective Fusco played by Kevin Chapman, the additions in casting along the way in seasons 2 and 3( Root, Shaw, Bear the dog, Vigilance, Decima, Samaritan). Also, two thumbs up to Caviezel, Emerson, and the writers, who got me hooked on this show, to the point where I bought Seasons 1 2 and 3 on dvd, and I’m also caught up on season 4. Inevitably, I hate watching shows 1 episode a week, and really like watching shows that have finished, because I can watch it whenever and however I want. I can read the reviews. Unfortunately, like Firefly, too many networks kill a show that has incredible potential, or they squeeze the ending into less episodes with less budget(like Fringe, should have atleast had a complete 22,23 episode season. Hopefully, they will commit themselves to Person of Interest til the end.

The dynamic between all of the main characters is perfect. This season threw the entire show to the wind and said ‘let’s rebuild from scratch’ and now we get to see a lot of crazy things happening as the team tries to rebuild. I haven’t seen a single episode I didn’t like, and the writers twist this show in a million different ways.

Shaw is my favorite character, and the season starts with a lot of fun things happening with the different characters as they try to find their new place in the world. They are struggling, but things are about to start getting shaken up in their war between the two computers.

If you love SCI that is believable and relevant, then this is the show for you. It’s amazing.

A great show that really sticks with you. It is one of those shows that you can’t help but think about the whole week while you wait for a new episode. There is more to this show than just plot and characters. To me, the most addicting thing about this show is exploring the nature and possibilities of Artificial Intelligence that rules the world. This is the essence of what makes a good sci-fi show: “exploring what-if questions”.

Second thing that hooks you is that the show would build up smart, powerful and sophisticated characters/organizations/forces and then set them against each other. So then you watch a chess match between Machine and Samaritan or between Elias and Dominic, and so on. It is addicting stuff

One drawback in the past was that that there was no human force that Mr. Reese could not single-handedly defeat or a computer system that Finch could not hack. In the past this made for some boring and predictable episodes. For example, Mr. Reese would be tied to chair, surrounded by a 30 armed men and about to be shot in the head … so you know that he will free himself and beat them up without receiving a single punch.

Well I am glad to see that they fixed this drawback in season three and now, good guys do not always win and good does not always unambiguously triumphs over evil. Instead, things are complicated and messy in a way that makes you think and reflect on possibilities and moral issues.

When you put all three points above together you get a show that is constantly occupying you imagination, and not only are you always hungry for more, but you also get a strong urge to write your own stories based on the ideas in the show. This is good stuff.
