Ray Donovan Season 5

Ray’s ongoing family upheaval has taken an emotional toll, leaving him more vulnerable than ever. LA’s preeminent fixer is heading into uncharted territory and will soon discover that some damage can’t be controlled.

Granted, I’ve only watched the first 3 episodes of this season (so far), but my gut feeling is that it’s not going to be anywhere near as good as the previous seasons. Messing around with the timeline might work for some shows, but in this one, it’s more confusing than anything else and, in my opinion, comes off as simply doing something different just for the sake of doing something different. The overall pacing is out-of-whack as well. Scenes that have little or no impact alternate with scenes of violence that seem to come out of nowhere. I’m surprised that the show’s producers actually thought these lame scripts and storylines were worth filming. Realistically I’d give this season only one star, but I’m giving it two, hoping that things will improve in the ensuing episodes. But I’m not holding my breath for future episodes to be brilliant enough to redeem an extremely disappointing opening to this show’s 5th season.

Wow! What a let down. Tough as nails Ray does more crying, moaning and sniveling than a Tele novella actress. He cries about everything and he hopes around until the obvious ending.
This show had zip, it was slick and rolled fast and heavy, all past tense. The characters, that I really liked, all seemed like they were phoning it in. I thought this show would have easily made it through 5 seasons and 100 shows. Don’t know what happened, don’t care, I paid big bucks for a mediocre shows last season.
