Saving Hope Season 4

Saving Hope returns for a fourth season, and I enjoyed every minute of it. This season really feels like a fresh start after the roller coaster of Season 3. As always the cast is terrific, there are some very interesting medical cases, and ghosts aplenty. With Dr. Joel Goran gone, Charlie and Alex are free of the love triangle and some of the rest of the characters got their chance to shine. There’s still lots of drama of course…Charlie’s gift is out in the open with Alex for the first time…can she handle it? Charlie must also deal with a few not-so-well-meaning spirits and new colleagues. Dawn, Maggie, Dana and Zach have heavy issues to deal with. Several new faces, including three junior residents, join the scene. And of course there’s a baby in the mix too.Special features include Behind the Scenes featurettes, cast Q&As and character montages.-

I love, love, love this show. The title belies the true uniqueness of this foreign gem. I say foreign because this is a Canadian offering. The first season was aired in part on NBC 4 years ago (?) and they never aired another show. I loved it so much I finally found it Amazon and quickly treated myself. I’m part way through the fourth season.
Most hospital dramas focus on the ER with dramatic tendrils reaching out to surgeons, administrators, and specialists. This show’s main characters Drs. Charlie Harris and Alex Reed are surgeons and about to marry in the very first episode, but an accident details their lives and put Chairlie in a coma. These characters interact with many different supporting characters all over the medical field including residents, a fascinating new perspective.
The most interesting twist of the show isn’t the interpersonal dramas going on, but that the main character sees the dying spirits of his patients. Pretty cool right? And, those spirits give him clues to solve their medical mysteries.
The characters are engaging, likable, and funny, and sometimes they make you cry. I definitely recommend the show and suggest you start binge watching immediately.- teleute

I am really caught up in this series. As a former nurse much of the time the scenarios are realistic but sometimes you have to let it be fantasy. I like the fact that the doctors portrayed in this series are very flawed but still have a great deal of compassion in serving their fellow man. I like to fantasize about what it would be like to communicate with ghosts as well as people having an out of body experience. If you are not into that, this series isn’t remotely for you.-Valerie A Mantz
