Ten Days In the Valley
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
Jane Sadler (Kyra Sedgwick), an overworked TV producer and former documentarist, finds her already busy life become more complicated when her daughter Lake (Abigail Pniowsky) vanishes from their home. But a deeper mystery seems to surround the circumstances behind Lake’s disappearance. It’s up to Detective John Bird (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) to sort out the lies from the truth and find Lake before it’s too late, even as Jane attempts to take matters into her own hands. “Ten Days in the Valley” also stars Kick Gurry as Pete Greene, Erika Christensen as Ali Petrovich, Josh Randal as Tom Petrovich, Malcolm-Jamal Warner as Matt Walker, and Francois Battiste as Gus Tremblay.
The beginning was a little bit of a departure from what I was expecting but the show was great. I really enjoyed watching season 1 and wish there would be a season 2. Some of the other reviews were a bit scathing and I was somewhat dubious but am a big fan of The Closer. I have the entire set of that show. Kyra Sedgwick was why I wanted to see the show and I was not disappointed. The show kept me on the edge of my seat. Love a good mystery that I don’t have figured out before getting fairly close to the ending. A good addition to my dvd collection. Was definitely not a waste of my time.

One of the cardinal sins a TV drama can commit is showing its audience how hard it’s trying. Sometimes that ends up as a symptom of a series desperately trying to dress up a simple premise with some overly aggressive trappings. That’s not necessarily the case for ABC’s “Ten Days in the Valley,” a new 10-part limited series with a meta-conceit and enough inherent drama to keep audiences hooked.
Where the show falters at regular intervals is by packing its character list with a bevy of competing allegiances and extreme shifts that only makes the show’s self-awareness more frustrating. Somewhere near “Scandal” by way of “Murder She Wrote,” it’s never quite as interesting as the sum of its parts, stuck in a pedestrian execution of a crime paperback setup.
