The Flash: Season 1-3 [UK Region]

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

The third season picks up a few months after the defeat of Zoom, and Barry going into the past to save his mother, which he was driven to after the death of his father, creating the Flashpoint universe. The rest of the season really falls out of that decision and even when Barry realizes his mistake and restores the timeline, he discovers just how many big (and small) consequences flowed from it.

The big bad this season is yet another speedster, Savitar, who calls himself the god of speed because he was the first speedster. As was the case in the prior seasons his identity is left as a mystery until about 3/4 of the way through the season. The theme of the season is really the consequences of Barry’s time travel and interfering with the past. It is impossible to go into too much detail without giving too much away, but the warnings he was given about messing with time in the prior seasons really take hold this season. Tom Felton (Draco from Harry Potter) is a new addition to the cast this season playing a foil for Barry as another CSI in the police department. Because of his addition, there are a couple nice Harry Potter references sprinkled in throughout the season. This season also features a couple big crossover episodes. The first about 1/3 of the way into the season is part of the 4 show crossover with Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. Then later in the season was a musical crossover episode with Supergirl (about 95 % of it takes place on the Flash episode), which was one of the best episodes of the season, and displayed the singing talent of any actor in the Arrowverse who had singing and/or dancing ability.

For those who get the discs, the episodes look and sound great on blu-ray. Given how special effect heavy the show is, it works well on the HD format. There are a lot of extras included (over an hour’s worth) including a portion of the comic-con panel, behind the scenes material on some of the villians, the crossover episode on the invasion storyline, the making of the Gorilla City episodes, a few different making of features on the musical, a conversation with Kevin Smith and Andrew Kreisberg on the episodes of Supergirl and Flash Smith directed (this is a duplicate of the extra on the Supergirl season 2 set), a feature on time travel, deleted scenes on some episodes and a gag reel. Very good for what they included. However the other shows from the 4 show crossover are not included as extras, so you would have to get (or stream) the other shows to see them.

By now the show has been on long enough that most people know whether they like the show enough to buy or stream it. For those just checking out reviews, you definitely have to watch it from the beginning to really know what is going on because it references past events a lot. It is not impossible to follow if you jump right in, but it would be hard. If you only get the physical discs when a lot of extras are included, I think there is enough with this set to make it worth the purchase, unless you will be upset about the other shows from the crossovers being left out. I think it continues to be a very good series that is well-written and acted, and worth checking out.

so here we are a 3rd season of the flash which I personally only watch to keep up with the continuity of the series as a whole since they take arks from both arrow and legends, this season is good and personally I find this season to be a fairly solid season with the friends turned enemies and the whole flashpoint issue but there is where the story falls apart as well, since all 3 main shows somewhat are all linked but at the same time separate they don’t change all that much with barry and his time travel mishaps, arrow gets a change of a baby and legends gets well nothing as there whole show is about time travel which I wont get into since that is a mess all of its own, this season of flash had one of the better match ups thus far which at the time of airing was billed as a 4 day epic crossover mesh, sadly when they aired part 1 which was super girl first there was nothing to linking the 4 parter at all there and worse yet now is they actually in the episode lists that come in the inserts flat out say that part 1 is the flash episode which granted that makes sense as supergirl was only dragged truly into the crossover due to flash and vibe playing around with the time space vortex thingy or what ever they want to call it, all in all buy this season for the cross over and maybe some interesting plot mix ups to the other 2 bigger and better shows or just Netflix that one episode as that was the strong point to me imho, would of given 5 stars but the series as a whole to me is just a sloppy seconds to a much better arrow and now the spin off of legends
