Lots of old classics. I was specifically looking for a dvd of the classic Disney Peter and the Wolf to give as a Christmas present for my niece (3yo) and nephew (5yo). I had gotten them tickets to see a children’s symphony orchestra perform Peter and the Wolf along with narration, so I figured they might be more interested if they see the cartoon version first. This dvd was perfect for them. Not only did they love Peter and the Wolf, but this is now their favorite dvd to take on long car rides to visit the grandparents.
It’s A Small World of Fun is a delightful collection of Disney short films, none of which ever made acclaim in their day, but which today’s viewer should find quaint and refreshing. THE BRAVE LITTLE TAILOR pits Mickey against the somewhat inept giant after he kills seven flies in one blow, PETER AND THE WOLF gives orchestral accompaniment to the narration, THE OLYMPIC CHAMP has Goofy demonstrating various Olympic events as only he can, CRAZY WITH HEAT has Goofy paired with Donald Duck as the two get themselves out of the desert, and SUSIE, THE LITTLE BLUE COUPE follows the life and exploits of an anthropomorphized automobile, while PEDRO does the same for a small South American aircraft. Relive the time when cartoons were entertaining without being gory or sensational.-MJC
I wanted this disk just for the Peter and the Wolf short! I grew up watching that clip on the disney channel. I am a music lover and played the flute in band. This classic cartoon has different instruments represent different characters. Such a well written and composed piece! My 2 year old son loves to watch this DVD. They don’t play classic cartoons like this on TV anymore, everything is 3D animation now. My son also loves cars, trains, and planes so 2 of the 6 shorts on this disk contain automobiles! He wants to watch “Blue car, blue car!” (Suzie the Coupe) Great DVD!- Carol HuhRaySa
