Westworld S2: The Door
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
If you have a low tolerance for horse poo, steer clear of this flabfest. It took me a while to get through it because I kept GOING to SLEEP. The actors are to be commended for l learning their lines and then STAYING AWAKE long enough to say them, except for Anthony Hopkins who into-o-o-o-ohnes his every utterance. There have been numerous exegetical excuses made for its “timeline,” but Ulysses this ain’t, and I’m flatly embarrassed at the hours torched on this hogwash. Season 1 was okay, but somebody clearly got carried far, far away with the green light for 2.- hfs
Not good. The shark jumping probably happened when they decided to make season two. Spasms of violence interrupted by endless dialogue trying to push the story along. The perfect metaphor occurs in the final episode when the hosts run through the magic door to Nirvana but are actually hurling themselves off a cliff. That’s what happens when you watch this. You expect something good but are hurling your standards off a cliff. The deep, long soliloquies are meant to be deep, existential truisms but are just tissue paper. There’s no there there. Hey! Just like Westworld! You have been warned! Yes! I’m an idiot! I paid for, and watched, the whole thing!-Paul Sparrow
This second season was a mix of lack of effort and laziness. There was no real plot line. There was just robotic reaction to first season. There was no real start or finish that I could see. The samurai scene was the epitome of that, just a rehash of the first with no attempt to make it meaningful. While I do believe the hosts had every right to rebel, It could have been done in an entertaining manner. There is no way I will even consider a third season. I rarely give negative reviews but had to make an exception to this one.-terry wilhite
