After a divisive season 8 finale that saw Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) choose Lucas (Chris McNally) over Nathan (Kevin McGarry) some long-time When Calls the Heart fans vowed to stop watching the show. But plenty of people continued to tune in, according to ratings figures recently shared by Hallmark.

An average of 2.9 million total viewers watched each of season 9’s 12 episodes on an L+3 basis, according to Nielsen. The show is the most-watched original scripted series on entertainment cable year to date among households, women 18+, and total viewers. It was also the most-watched program among women 18+.

However, When Calls the Heart’s Season 9 ratings were down a bit compared to season 8. An average of 3.3 million people watched each of that season’s 12 episodes.
