I was reluctant to watch this season the moment I heard that it was going to be about politics. I also wasn’t crazy about the last few seasons of AHS. However, “Cult” is very surprising. It takes an episode to get into but then it gets very exciting as you try to figure out what the hell is going on. Just lots of crazy fun madness and definitely some good horror elements. It is reminiscent of Murder House in some ways (although less cozy and Halloweeny – sorry), and of the mystery elements of Asylum. You’re really just figuring out who is what and why everything happens the way it does. AHS usually delivers a very satisfying finale and I am fully invested in this season, trusting them to wrap it up into a neat package in the finale.

Honestly, when I first saw the news that this would involve politics as a part of the element of horror, I was a little disappointed. However, as I move through the series, I have fallen in love with most of the characters and am enjoying the story thus far!

It seems to me that while politics is playing a major role this season, the main focus/takeaway is not merely politics. It is how fear drives people to do crazy things. It is how one can use fear to divide people, which is what politics tend to do.

This seriously is a great season, and am looking forward to watching more episodes!
