Ash Vs. Evil Dead: Season 2 [Blu-ray]
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
Bruce Campbell is probably one of the most underrated actors of ever. No one can deliver a one liner the way Bruce does. He’s at his best playing Ashley J. Williams and is definitely the main draw here. Well, him and the ridiculous amounts of gore and absurd plotlines that make the Evil Dead universe so, uh, endearing. This show is an ode to practical effects and they are perfect. Lucy Lawless also turns in an awesome performance as the mysterious Ruby. In fact, the entire supporting cast is perfect. Ray Santiago and Dana DeLorenzo round out Ash’s team of Ghostbeaters in a way I’m not sure other actors would be able to. Shows like The Walking Dead have brought over-the-top gore mainstream in a way that I hope will bring a whole new generation of fans to appreciate the Evil Dead. This show is the perfect gateway into the series for that new generation. I really look forward to what the cast and production team have in store for Ash and that damned book.- bfg900
This season is defintiely sillier than the first season. And because of that, I’m enjoying it more. It’s still super gory and over the top bloody, but it’s lost an edge of menace. For me, this is a good thing. Some might not like that, and call it “softer” than the first season.
Me? I’m more of a fan of the Army of Darkness than I am of the Evil Dead. I love the Ash one liners, snarky humor and dark wit. And that was something I was missing from the first season. In season 2, the humor is back, baby. Ash reels off stinger after stinger.
Also, the humor does not paint Ash as badly as the first season does. It’s more sympathetic to him, not portraying him as such a blindly selfish bastard.

Watch The original “The Evil Dead”, “The Evil Dead 2” then the “Army of Darkness” movies before you watch “Ash vs. Evil Dead” and “Ash vs. Evil Dead- 2”! [The re-make of “The Evil Dead” has nothing to do with this.] I didn’t believe that any epic could ever compare to “LOTR”, let alone topple it, until the second season was added to the movies and the first season. You will never get the seriousness or the F/X of “LOTR”, but you get so much more . The stories and humor make this the King, Baby.
If you don’t watch the movies first than you will never get the feel and you’ll never be able to handle the ride. So, learn with: “The Evil Dead”, “The Evil Dead 2” then the “Army of Darkness”, and then the seasons. I envy anyone that gets to see this for the first time.- Bubba Gespect
