Black Sails Season 4 [Blu-ray]

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

The fourth and final season of Black Sails provided many answers to situations presented in the prior seasons. I was surprised, shocked and even saddened by the events of season 4 (no spoilers here). I had re-watched the first 3 seasons to refresh my memory before I viewed any of the season 4 episodes. The development of the lead roles (and there are many) through the series reflected the characters responses to their circumstances and the changing times on Nassau. If you want some answers and a chance to see most of the “loose ends” tied up, season 4 is a must.-Marguerite Guinn

Last season of this fine series. Well written and acted. The story of Long John Silver and the pirates living and fighting in the Caribbean makes for a tail well worth watching. Life was not easy for most of the people in the islands which was fought over and ruled by England, France and Spain. Who controlled each of the islands was important to explain much of the story line. Putting all of the places and people into proper perspective was done with a great deal of thought to make the locations and dress typical of the times. The writers did an outstanding job of telling how each of the main characters lives would go on after the last chapter.- Movie Watcher

I am with those who consider Black Sails the finest of all the US and UK TV series productions of the past, well, ever. And that’s saying something, considering the monumental qualities of many of them (The Wire, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Americans, and yes, The Sopranos). The story-telling, period details, and film production values overall approach the pinnacles of the cineramic arts, near the same level as Lawrence of Arabia really. Except that the visual presentation on Bluray is so stunning as is, I fear that if it were filmed in 70mm and scanned properly to a 4k UHD disk, more sensitive individuals may not survive the viewing experience. This last is possibly a slight exaggeration (but possibly not), as I never engage in hyperbole.- tallpoppy
