Blindspot Season 3

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

It’s still a great show, but the plots are a little different now than when it first started. A lot of doomsday scenarios that get a bit ridiculous with the bombs, chemical attacks, and last second bomb defuses. Blindspot’s major victory is in the amazing actors and characterization. Roman is an amazing actor, so is Patterson and Jane. The amount of emotions and range that this cast has is incredible. They feel like real people which many of these TV shows fail to do. I do miss the mystery of Jane though we had in the beginning. Finding out her tattoos and why she was such a badass. And then we find out she always used to beat Roman and we know Roman is a massive badass. I wish they would let Jane separate from the FBI role and do her own thing with Weller similar to what she did with Klem/Clem.

The third season starts off revisiting the two-year flash forward that ended season two., The first couple episodes do a good job of filling in the gaps of the time-jump, then the rest of the season becomes the team (same people, but different dynamic after the time jump) versus Roman, who has an agenda of his own aside from just getting back at Jane/Remi that plays throughout the season.

The season is a bit uneven. It really tries to get its footing as a show after playing out the time jump. Some parts of the story work better than others, but where it really hooked me is the end, doing basically another couple cliffhangers which really set up season four to potentially be the best season yet.

For those who get the blu-ray, it is a MOD set, so you are paying a bit more. Unlike some MOD DVD and blu-ray sets it has subtitles and extras. The latter include deleted scenes for most of the episodes, a 6+ min gag reel, and a 4 min behind the scenes with Audry Esparza highlighting her character, Zapata. Good for what is there, but not a ton. It may or may not be worth the extra cost to you. Chances are if you got the discs for seasons 1 and 2 you will want this one to have a complete collection. But if you only get discs when there is a lot of bonus material, then you may just want to stream it. One benefit to the MOD discs, however, is that there is a true play all mode that allows you to pick up where you leave off. Even in the middle of the episodes. That is not something that the “regular” Warner Brothers an Fox blu-ray sets do not.

Back in the day, the old Washington Senators had a pitcher named Camilo Pascual who was famous for his curveball.
So famous that even Hall-of-Famer Ted Williams – the last baseball player to bat over .400 for a season – said it was the best he’d ever seen.
Watching this season of “Blindspot” was a lot like watching Pascual pitch in the late Fifties and early Sixties: There were more curves in the season-long narrative than I would have thought it possible to work into a season before I watched it. Betrayals, shifting loyalties, the return of some old foes and a few old allies were all worked into the narrative along with the discovery of a long-lost daughter.
It was sometimes mind-boggling but always so much fun to watch.
This season, in my opinion, really belonged to the writers. This is not to say that the actors and directors were sub-par because they certainly weren’t; rather, it is simply an attempt to acknowledge that the writers let their imaginations loose and – as a result – came up with some wonderful stories.
(I especially enjoyed the episode in which Patterson solves a crime after being severely injured in an explosion and is put into a medically induced coma. There are shades of “Groundhog Day” throughout that episode making it poignant and funny as well as a pretty darn good piece of investigative work.)
A little offbeat, full of twists and turns, this season was great fun to watch.
