Chicago Med Season 2
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
a show from the eighties, as I wrote in a review of Season 1. And that’s a good thing. As others have wrote, Chicago Med is addictive! Great for binge watching. You just have to watch it and see for yourself. I enjoy medical dramas, my favorite being “ER.” Then I let myself be drawn in to the medical soap “Greys Anatomy,” am still watching that. So if you like medical dramas, you’ll probably like this. And if you don’t like, or haven’t watched, many medical dramas, then you might like this anyway.
A few cons: some of the medical terms are mispronounced (glad they stopped “stats” for “sats”) and meds prescribed are SO wrong, like Prozac as an alternative to Lithium. And I’m no medical professional, so I assume there are more medical errors. They should fix those. Because this show is just plain awesome.

This as most know is a product of the (mostly) successful spate of Chicago based shows by the Dick Wolf production machine. The second season of Chicago Med is pretty much in line with what the first season of the show was. It was mostly a show about the stories of the patients and staff working in an ER (or ED as they abbreviate it on the show). It did get a little bit more soap opera like with the relationships of (and between) the staff members, but I never thought that was the forefront of the show at any time. It is the one medical drama I have seen since ER has been off the air (admittedly I have never watched Grey’s Anatomy) which has had a similar feel to it, although this is not, in my opinion, as good as ER was, especially not the first 5-6 seasons of that one. The acting is very good, especially with a large ensemble cast which does not really boast any A-list star power, and the stories are very well written. Not every episode is packed with emotion, but the show does take on issues like sexual assault, human trafficking, right to die and various mental health issues. There are also some lighter storylines weaved in as well. Unlike the first season, this season ends on a major cliffhanger, which I will not spoil for those who have not seen it yet. There is also some turnover in the cast with the addition of Dr. Charles’s daughter who is an infectious disease doctor who begins working at the hospital and has a pretty large storyline toward the end of the season, as well as a new head of cardiology to replace Dr. Downey.
For those who get the discs, like the season 1 release, it is little more than a MOD release. There are no extras or bonus materials at all. Just subtitles which are a little more than the MOD sets get. So unless you are just one who prefers the physical discs, or gets this because you got season 1 and want have it for a collection, then it is something you may want to just stream because you are probably going to get better video resolution anyway. And of course, it will never see the light of day on blu-ray. The lack of quality of the DVD knocks it down a star for me, but other than that the show is worth checking out.

I love this TV medical series and have watched it faithfully through three seasons. I purchased this DVD of season two for a friend who watched season one on Netflix but was unable to stream season two. She tried watching season three but felt like she was coming in the middle of everything and missing previous issues/relationships/etc., which, of course, she was. Season three of Chicago MD just ended and I really hope it is renewed for another season. It it set in the emergency room of a large Chicago hospital and the medical cases are fascinating (although I do have to look away sometimes when surgeries are being filmed in detail). The medical staff and the relationships between them and their patients keep me totally involved in their lives and profession. It’s the best medical series I’ve enjoyed since Chicago Hope many years ago.
