Elementary: Season 4
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
Great series. I really don’t know why it took me so long to get into this show. After seeing other Holmesian adaptations or influeneces, where they just stretched the concept of Holmes’ deductive reasoning to him basically being telepathically psychic to know everything about everything and still everything in between (like Goren in L&O:CI) I was hesitant to get into the show, figuring I’d detest everything about it. I ordered the first season just as a “WTH, why not” kind of thing, and love the show. It dives into the mindset and logic of Holmes, without making him to be some annoying parody, like I feared. In short, the entire series is interesting, mind-boggling, and captivating. I now have the four seasons available on DVD.

Fourth Season of this unique journey. The stories are getting more intriguing, introduction of a real love interest with some very charming dialog between Sherlock and his love interest.
The interplay between Sherlock and Lucy Lui as Dr. Watson is still very interesting. The edge is somewhat softened from the first 3 seasons – they aren’t as ready to split at the slightest provocation as they seemed to have been earlier. Kind of like a mature couple settling into a more secure framework where you can still crack eggs to make the omelet but getting shell in the batter isn’t cause for nuclear missile launch.

Somehow, episode after episode, even with occasional soap-opera-like characters showing up now and then in episodes, this is just one of the very very best shows ever. It is nearly perfect. To start an episode is to quickly become lost in another world. Again, I just can’t think of any television program EVER that is better than this one…and what a clever, unique take on the relationship of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. It actually works better this way than the original seen in all the old versions, like those with Basil Rathbone.
