Fargo: Season 2

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

This is television standards, not movies. ok. “Cheers” is the only television show I ever watched (I’m a New Englander, big sports fan), and even then I only saw the whole series – the first 5 seasons, of course – after it came out on DVD. So “Fargo” is the second TV show I’ve watched, but this is the only season that counts. MUCH better than the first season, tighter knit as a story, and without the incredible stupidity that was so prevalent in the first season. And without Billy Joe Bob, which is a pretty good plus by itself. It was great seeing Ted Danson acquit himself so well in a role other than Sam Malone. (I didn’t recognize him, first I saw the name, then figured out who he was playing – I mean, who would expect Sam Malone to be playing somebody’s granddad.) But Kirsten Dunst steals the show. She is really in an alternate universe, and that leads to some excellent black humor. Her decisions aren’t stupid, they’re governed by a distorted logic all her own. I will watch this a second time, and that is high praise indeed from someone who thinks that “television” is something invented to watch “sports”.

One of the best television shows out right now. If the first episode is any indication, this season will be just as good, if not better than the first. Amazing cast, a much larger and complex plot, with the same darkly comic and gritty atmosphere that I enjoyed in the first season. Might be a little more on the comedy side. Although there is no evil Malo character to focus on, the concept of evil isn’t limited to one person or character. It doesnt seem to have a main character so far, like Lester in the first season, the acting playing field seems somewhat leveled. This is a much more broad story of corruption. Oh, and there’s aliens. That’s right. Aliens.

.The only reason I gave this five stars is because I cannot give it ten. I don’t know whether to love or hate this show. It has probably ruined me from almost everything else tv has to offer. It cannot, just cannot, be better than this violent, funny and intense masterpiece. This isn’t a cookie cutter, cornball, predictable type of show you get on network tv. If you want more than that, much, much more then you have to watch this, words cannot do it justice. Utter brilliance from top to bottom. Oh Jeeze, im outta words………..well, ok then.
