Jersey Shore Shark Attack (2012)
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
Seaside Heights is the place to be in New Jersey! But when an illegal coastal drilling operation inadvertently unleashes a horde of man-eating albino bull sharks, there is danger everywhere. Can a local Jersey crew (guess who they are) band together to defend the Jersey Shore from this attack? I have to say first that I am not now nor was I ever a fan of the Jersey Shore program. I found them all (except for maybe 2 of the guys) annoying and worthy of dismissal overall. They were horrible people and this mocking of them is hysterical to say the least. They found the right people to pose as the Jersey shore bunch. The effects are to say the least, crappy but it is Scyfy channel stuff. I got quite a few laughs out of it. The cast is wonderful and the story is a bunch of fun too. If you enjoy these types of movies that poke fun at others you will love this, don’t, and I repeat, don’t take it seriously, have fun with it.

I’ve never watched Jersey Shores. Now I know why. I love “B” movies, especially monster movies. I have to admit I had a little trouble with this one. Yes, I know it’s a parody of Jersey Shores and it is not to be taken seriously. But this one seems to have, if you pardon the pun, jumped the shark. This is not just a parody. It is a parody of a parody. The people who made this movie purposely made this movie as cheesy as possible. They did not need to try that hard. Just the idea of it was cheesy enough. And then there was Joey Fatone.
I did like the part where the boys were going all over town trying to convince everyone in town that there were albino sharks with red eyes killing people. It reminded me of the part in “The Blob” where the teenagers were trying to do the same thing. And of course the part where “Nooki” was hitting the rubber sharks with a paddle was reminiscent of Raquel Welch in “One Million BC”. I also liked the reference to the real shark attack in 1916 that happened along the Jersey shore. Although I don’t remember any accounts of that event that included the phrase “Badda Bing”. And I was absolutely flabbergasted that the guys were able to reason out where the albino sharks came from and why they were there.- melanie
These days the latest trend in “shark sci-fi” is to mix horror with humor. “Jersey Shore Shark Attack” seems to try and do the same thing. However, while it was somewhat funny at times and scary at others it succeeds at neither. I gave it 3 stars because I didn’t feel that it was bad enough to be given 2 nor good enough to be given 4. (Sorry, if this sounds like a cop-out.) And therein lies the problem with this movie. It does have its moments though most are predictable (except for the Ferris Wheel ride at the end the likes of which Paul Sorvino and William Atherton will never take again).-Critical Mass
