Rick and Morty Season 1 [Blu-ray]

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Rick and Morty is in essence one of the greatest series Adult Swim has ever created, it’s up there along with The Boondocks and Moral Orel and the like. This has got to be one of the greatest Sci-Fi comedies ever written since Futurama’s original airing. It’s intelligent, funny, and raunchy in all the right ways. Over the course of 11 episodes you see these character personalities come out very well, anyone can easily somewhat relate to at least one character and sympathize with many of them if not all of them. If I could describe the series: It’s Back to the Future meets Dr. Who meets Lost in Space meets Peabody’s Improbable History all thrown into a martini blender, and what comes out is a very unusually tasting but still pleasing to the pallet concoction.- JANET CHITWOOD

I caught this show “on demand” because I had been hearing random references to it and figured I would give it a shot. Wow. I watched all the available on-demand episodes and then added the show itself to my DVR. The completely irreverent and supremely dark humor is right up my alley. I wouldn’t call it “smart” humor as quite a bit of it really are fart jokes, but it is definitely not for the d!ck and fart joke crowd either.-C.J.

What’s not to love from this show? For one thing, it’s the silver lining on the suck sandwich that was Dan Harmon getting kicked off Community for its fourth season. It was when he got fired that Adult Swim called him up wondering if he’d want to develop something for them, and he immediately called up Justin Roiland asking if Roiland would want to work on the project too. So, here we have this strange beast, born of circumstance and drawing from the basically pornographic “Real Animated Adventures of Dock and Mharti,’ which was itself basically just Roiland railing against copyright lawyers.- Jacob Secrest
