This brings back the jungle book’s amazing story as a child, and i don’t think the changes to it effected the overall story, one bit. if anything it dug deeper into the story, not made it any less powerful. you didn’t loose anything, and in fact, it really felt like there was a whole story there. a move done well is rare, especially when i say this. just overall GREAT acting & film. there could have been a million ways to mess this up, and these guys actually did it right! props to all who created the special, effects, as well, for they are most definitely the BEST special effects i have ever seen. Even beets Avitar any day ! also, not too much singing in this one & the songs you do have are actually enjoyable, and are the ones that count! We simply can’t for get “bear necessities” as even though i’m not a huge fan of singing, i would have thrown a fit if that one wasn’t in there. there were also very comical moments that you just can’t pass up and could watch days on end and not get tired of it…i think it will be stuck in my head forever.
I really cannot understand why anyone would rate this release less than 5 stars. From the intro on this movie was incredibly entertaining, exciting and well done and Mowgli and the voice overs were perfectly cast. No, it’s not exactly like the original nor was it intended to be simply an updated copy of the original and to rate it less because it is not is absurd. A Fantastic movie and well deserving of 5 stars. So awesome I bought it, and that’s a very rare occurrence indeed !- The Guy
Just so beautiful that any complaint dissolves. True to the story I read as a ten year old, and that inner ten year old was thrilled. I will be seeing this again soon. The film plunked me down in the jungle and took my breath away. The personality of Mogli was perfectly sussed — tough, dirty, bloodied, scarred all over and thinking nothing of it — zero bothers given. Glorious. Personalities of the animals was righteously tuned to the specie. Every tree looked climbable, every pond drinkable, every flower in full bloom, and best of all the animals’ society was presented so well that I don’t think Kipling spun even once in the grave. Bonus: easy peasy to expect a sequel……so many stories in the book-Edward W. Duveyoung
