The Magicians Season 3

One of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. Entertaining, funny, and keeps you wanting more.

I agree with others. I bought the first two seasons and both came with codes for streaming online but this one came with absolutely nothing except for a gag reel on the last disc. So minus one for that, although with the lack of consistency I’m really being nice.

So now I can watch the first two online (which I have numerous times) but not the third one.That one I’ll have to be at home in front of my TV to watch. Really kind of annoying. It doesn’t feel like the company thought this one through.

I pre-ordered this back after the season finished airing much like I did seasons 1 & 2. I assumed like those seasons it would have a code for Digital along with the BluRays but I was wrong. It’s not even like they had a version with just the BluRay and one with the Bundle. This was an abrupt change after 2 seasons.

The season itself was enjoyable (which is why I preordered) but I might be done buying the BluRays if they are no longer to sell a bundle. That doesn’t mean I’ll start buying the digital copies either. There are other options for streaming alone if that’s what I wanted.

This is a review of the release, not the show. Season 3 was probably the best season yet, and it’s why I pre-ordered it as soon I was able to.

As others have noted, there is no digital stream for this. And furthermore, the ONLY special feature is the gag reel. There are no “behind the scenes” features or deleted scenes at all. Considering they had two fairly elaborate episodes this season – Six Short Stories About Magic and All That Josh – and that SyFy is always posting material on their YouTube channel after the show, that is really egregious.

The first season had deleted scenes, a Gag Reel, and “The World of the Magicians.” Season 2 had a Gag Reel and Behind the Scenes featurette. So it was not unreasonable to expect similar features on this release. I will not be ordering Season 4 until I see that these types of features are part of the release.
