The Walking Dead Season 8

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Rick and his survivors bring “All Out War” to Negan and his forces. The lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action- packed battle for the promise of a brighter future.

Sadly TWD is done. The downhill slide that was season 7 has culminated in the trash fire that is season 8.
TWD lost what made it exciting – suspense, tension, engaging characters, overall solid writing.

Season 8 starts out on a fantastically boring, badly written, terribly directed note. It opens with the continuation of the tedious teetering on tiresome war against the Saviors. These are the episodes where Rick & Co finally attack the Saviors with guns blazing, which should be exciting, but isn’t, since blazing guns are 80% of the runtime. It is a snooze of gunfire, explosions, idiotic dialogue, and bizarre close-ups – all rounded out with questionable continuity & believability (e.g. it took all last season to find guns & make a single bullet….maybe the writers decided season 8 comes w/ unlimited ammo). I’d go into more depth about the episodes themselves but TWD writers didn’t provide enough content to do so.

You’ll spend the aftermath of the first episodes wondering:
1) why you were reading a POTUS twitter rant while your favorite characters were in kill-or-be-killed combat,
2) how the Saviors subjugated so many, when not a person among them could hit the broad side of a barn with a sawed-off,
3) what the hell happened to the series you loved,
and most importantly…. 4) what was up with those looong, slow-mo close-ups used as bookends in ep 2 (what was that? seriously, wth??).
