Synopsis: Life was the usual routine with its fast-paced, city life. Until one fateful day, an army that mysteriously appears, begins to attack the citizens. The JSDF quickly responds, and in conjunction with the police force, as well as many others, they eventually route the enemies.After the incident, they discover a mysterious gate. As such, the government decides to send their soldiers to explore what lies beyond this gate. And thus, the adventures of our protagonist begins.

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a modern day army were to fight a fantasy army from another world, this show pretty much sums up the answer. After the titular gate suddenly appears in the middle of Tokyo’s Ginza district, an army of Roman-style soldiers and monsters emerges and begins a ruthless attack on the city. After Japan’s Self-Defense Force manages to repel the invasion, an expeditionary force is assembled to take the fight to the invaders and to explore the strange new world on the other side.

This is a fun show all around with eccentric protagonists, vile antagonists, and a whole slew of strange and colorful fantasy beings in the middle. The fast paced and action packed story just makes the 24 episode length breeze on by, although it probably could have benefited from an additional two as the final two episodes felt rushed to bring the story to an end in the allotted runtime. If you’re a fan of military or fantasy anime ( or just anime in general) this is definitely one to check out.
