Killjoys Season 3

Season 3 of the sci-fi series opens with Dutch (Hannah John-Kamen) and D’avin (Luke Macfarlane) capturing a Hullen and finding out that they’re preparing for war. In the meantime, Johnny (Aaron Ashmore), disguised as a hackmod, is following the trail of the plasma and trying to find Clara (Stephanie Leonidas), who’s been sending him her coordinates. As the season progresses and the threat of war looms closer, the three friends try to assemble an army, but the biggest threat they have to face is Aneela’s quest for revenge.
Although you can’t tell from the above photo, Dutch is pissed, which is a good thing for Killjoys viewers.
She’s waging war on the parasitical Hullen. She and Khlyen poisoned the green goo pool (to use a technical term) on Arkyn on Killjoys Season 2 Episode 10. But that’s just one such pool in the cosmos, and there are other Hullen drawing strength from those pools.
Her actions have also brought in the next officious prig for Dutch to joust with in Banyon Grey, who was looking for all former RAC agents/Hullen hybrids that are now on the lam.
I enjoy the Mission Impossible-style team which Dutch gathered for her war, which also included Fancy, Alvis and even Pree. Each bought their own strength to the cause, but they all bantered equally well, even amid the slaughter.
It was a much better use of Dutch’s hard-won assassination skills than just chasing down fugitives. She kicked ass but was also a talented tactician. Who knew the whole recover-the-beacon mission was just a way to draw out the Hullen for easy termination?

On Killjoys Season 3 Episode 10, “Wargasm,” Aneela and Dutch’s showdown goes as expected for a little bit. Then, everything changes.
Can we take a moment to praise Hannah John-Kamen? The fight scene is absolutely phenomenal, and it’s one of those moments where you forget that Aneela and Dutch are played by the same person.
It’s so fascinating to see Dutch and Aneela finally in a room together. Their showdown has been a long time coming, and it doesn’t disappoint. We witness the smack talk and the badass fighting, but then Dutch makes it even more personal by giving Aneela her memories.

Killjoys is a fun, sexy, action packed hour of entertainment. It doesn’t shy away from exploring serious themes, but generally, it softens the angst with a well placed one liner or a snappy bit of banter. In “Wargasm”, this tendency is used to both good and ill effect. We’ll talk more about that later.
The opening scene of “Wargasm” takes place at a Leithian war camp in slow motion. The full complement of Team Awesome Force and an assortment of Ferran, scarbacks, and killjoys are sharing the last bit of camaraderie before it starts raining down hullen. Dutch shares a drink and a laugh with the Jaqobis. Pippin and Zeph make cute googly eyes at each other. (Aww!) And the Farren commander performs a handfasting ritual uniting Pree and Gared. (Yay!)
