Skyscraper
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
#1. When I see a 5′ 1″ 87 pound girl calmly walk through a hail of bullets, and shortly thereafter, overpower, disarm and kill two ARMED men twice her size, then display an arrogant & satisfying smile because “Girl Power!” I’m out. Just incredibly stupid and insulting to me. Absolutely absurd.#2. If you look back at just incredibly EVIL villains as they’ve been portrayed in films for the past 30 years, it’s now always over the top and unrealistic. The movie loses all credibility. What happened to realism? That’s what gets you hooked and pulls you in to a film. Plausibility! If you can’t watch a film for more than 5 minutes without thinking “OK, that would never happen in a million years…” it’s just insulting.- KK Downing
If you’re a fan of Dwayne Johnson and/or disaster movies then you might enjoy this. Otherwise, proceed with caution. The CGI special effects are good, but the movie itself is an odd mashup of Die Hard, Towering Inferno, and Marvel Comics. In other words, this time, Johnson tried to just cut and paste from prior successful films and tried to sell it as something new. Dwayne does his hero thing but the humor that often makes Johnson’s cheesy movies fun and worth watching is totally missing. In short, it is a movie almost entirely based on special effects with little in the way of plot, script, or characters. It’s a good enough sale rack movie but I wouldn’t pay full price for it.- Danny S.
This reminds me of the first Die Hard. I enjoyed this a lot. Neve Cambell was a nice surprise! Perfect for the role. I enjoy almost everything the Rock is in. His humor and acting reminds me of old school action actors. When the muscles matched the actions. This is a good buy and fun to watch!-DAR
