The Orville: Season 2

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

This truly is the Star Trek that Star Trek fans have been looking to come back to TV since 2005! It may have a different name, but it continues the spirit of Star Trek unlike other shows and movies since 2005. No annoying lens flares here. Just good Sci-fi stories and a crew you would love to be a part of.

Why a show with incredible cgi and absolutely beautiful imagery is relagated to standard definition DVD is a complete mystery. Everyone I know is waiting for it come out on Blu-ray. Come on FOX this show should be on Blu-ray.

Having commented on the Season 1 DVD only release it still baffles me why in this day and age the Blu-ray release of The Orville has not occurred.

Fox originally broadcasts this show in 720P freely OTA which is far superior in quality than your standard 480P DVD.

The DVD set doesn’t do the show justice. A 1080P Blu-ray release or even a combo 1080P and Blu-ray 4K Ultra HD Combo package would be the best way to distribute this show for fans who want to see the show in higher quality than it was ever originally broadcast and all that effort of the CGI artists fully appreciated. Let’s also don’t forget about sound design and add a 7.1/7.2 surround sound mix but I’ll still take a 5.1 mix with my Blu-ray if that’s all you can offer. 🙂

This reminds me of when FOX aired Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in 2008. Even then FOX had already begun airing in 720P HD. And that show got a proper Blu-ray release.

The Orville is the best new sci-fi series since Star Trek: TNG aired its final episode. Every part of this show screams quality. If Gene Roddenberry was still with us, he would have wanted a recurring role as an admiral on this show. And I am sure Seth McFarland would have gladly given it to him.

I loved season 1 and hoped that season 2 would not fade in the sidelines like many series do. My wish was granted. The Orville did something that most TV series can never do. They made season 2 as good as season 1. Some S-2 episodes were actually better. I patiently wait for season 3 and hope for more episodes per season.

This series well deserves 5 stars, but I gave it just 4 stars only because we were all spoiled with the Hi-Def viewings on Fox TV, but we only get the old standard definition for home DVD video. That makes no sense. Who thought up that idea? I bought season 1 on standard DVD, and they looked pretty good. But I may wait for seasons 1 and 2 to come out on BluRay.
