Death in Paradise Season 7 -UK Region
DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:
We enjoy this series. They have managed to continue the fun story line despite numerous replaced actors in starring role. We have made a mental note to never visit this island as the murder rate is ridiculously high!- Dreamarrow
Season seven of Death in Paradise is best characterized as solid and predictable. With the exception of the new lead, Ardal O’Hanlon, the cast remains intact. There is still a nice array of guest stars. The scripts are still strong and the genre (locked-room mysteries) remains intact.
O’Hanlon is a moderating influence. He plays the role in a self-effacing, laid-back manner. He is a good father to his adult daughter, a good boss to the members of his team and a suitably sychophantic Inspector to Don Warrington’s Commissioner (except when he quietly solves the cases). In the season finale he solves a case that had eluded the skills of the Commissioner some three decades earlier.
The writers avoid negative Irish stereotypes. O’Hanlon drinks in moderation but he has a nice spring in his step and he is a good raconteur. The new season is pleasant with a capital P. No new departures, no shocks or mistaken new directions.
Enjoy. (And if you want to see the season earlier on dvd, consider purchasing an all-regions player. Amazon sells them for reasonable prices. I recommend Pioneer. You can then not only see some series earlier but you can also comparison-shop with, e.g., English prices.)

I miss Richard Poole and Humphrey. They were great, but Ardal’s lines and performance seems strained. One really gets attached to these characters – especially after watching episodes over and over again. The first 6 series had really brilliant writers. Season 7 not so much.-Barb Martenson
