IT

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

I say there’s nothing more alarming than a knock at your door at three in the morning, and you open it, and there’s a clown standing there. Stephen King knows this, and he lives to prey on our deep-seated fears. And what does SK have against Derry, anyway? He’s written so much horror in Derry, never mind that it’s a fictional town, his personal sandbox of grotesqueries. I read IT years and years ago when I was a kid, and it terrified me the same way THE EXORCIST terrified me. IT is my favorite SK read, and not just because it was my first ever SK novel. It is genuinely haunting and moving and gives you that feeling of worms squirming in your belly. I relished the heck out of the 1990 ABC teleplay; At the time, I thought Tim Curry as the over-the-top Pennywise was the best thing ever.- H. Bala

it was as good movie. i think the jump scares, monsters and what not are not as holy crap as they used to be. We are used to scary stuff these days and its kind of hard to make movies that scare people. What this movie had over the old one was a really good story told. The old one had a unique clown actor that played more of a comedy role than this one. He made more comments on the kids fears more than this one. All and all i was keen to like this one for its story. CGI really is what the old one really needed to make the vision of how horrifying the clown can be. I’m looking forward to the next movie and see where it takes us.- rianblade

Although I was originally disappointed that they didn’t really follow the outline of the book, I decided to just set that aside, and look at the film as a stand-alone story. That worked, because it scared the living daylights out of me. I judge how frightening a movie is, by my sleep success the night after I watch it. If I have nightmares or I am too scared to come out from under the covers for a bit, I know it was a great thrill. “IT,” was food for nightmares for sure. The kids are all fantastic actors, and I am sure they will all go on to create great cinema. Pennywise took my fear of clowns to a whole new level. I don’t know if I will ever be able to eat at McDonald’s again, for fear that the statue of Ronald McDonald will somehow morph into Pennywise.-Mary Mendel
