Person of Interest Season 3 UK

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Person of Interest is so good that, unlike its beleaguered characters, I’m not ever compelled to plan an exit strategy. It’s a show that at first I was like “Huh?” and then I was like “What the f-!” and then I was like “AHHHHH!!” P.O.I. is television’s sneakiest drama. Season 3 is still very much a serialized product but, more and more, it seeps in its overarching mythology and expands its universe. Season 3’s primary trajectory revolves around the awakening of Samaritan, a terrifying rival artificial intelligence unchecked by the set of ethics Finch had governed into The Machine. Seriously, there’s a strong vibe here of what it must’ve been like just before Skynet got activated. Cue the various shadow agencies and espionage operators at cross purposes and the running debates re techno-theology, with Root as the Machine’s analog interface (and its raving apostle) and Finch as the Doubting Thomas. We also get tragic resolution to the HR conspiracy even as the Control, Vigilance, and Decima threads are progressed.

Reese mostly takes a back seat as there’s deliberate focus on developing the female cast. There’s fun in watching Det. Carter go rogue. The nihilistic former cyber-foe Root and clinical psychopath Sameen Shaw are now series regulars and serve as the show’s wild cards and nab many opportunities to whoop butt and also tantalize ‘shippers. There’s so much to love about P.O.I. The large scale worldbuilding. The serpentine plots. The constant flirting with our emotions and subverting our expectations. The sci-fi cyberpunk aspects. The dark humor (most of the cast are masters of the wry one-liner). The many kickass action beats. The ever evolving characters, particularly the unpredictable Root and the spitfire Shaw. P.O.I. remains very topical as its key premise addresses serious concerns about government surveillance and the perversion of the citizen’s right to privacy. If I had a gripe it’s that we need more Bear. And where’s Leon Tao and Zoe?

Season 3 features several watershed episodes. My favorites are (and also a plot SPOILERS alert):

– Episode 3 – “Lady Killer” – Strictly for Root’s badass exit strategy from the insane asylum.

– Episode 5 – “PA3ROBOP” (a.k.a. “Razgavor”) – Shaw must safeguard a little girl sought by Russian gangsters. This episode delves into Shaw’s past and delivers sly nods at Terminator 2.

– Episode 6 – “Mors Praematura” – The Machine deploys two different teams for what turns out to be the same mission. Root abducts Shaw and this lends to some awesome moments.

– H. Bala
