Spider-Man: Far from Home – UK Region

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

Spider-Man: Far From Home feels like exactly what the Marvel franchise needed after the heaviness of Endgame. A light, frothy palette cleanser (Endgame’s emotional pay off is hilariously lampooned right in Far From Home’s opening scene) full of fun action scenes and sparky dialogue, with just the right level of new enemy in the shape of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio.

I get that for some MCU fans the lightness of tone feels inappropriate – especially given Spider-Man’s previous closeness with Endgame’s most notable ‘dear departed’. And yes, the end credit sequence is… challenging. And I agree, too, that the plot is a stretch if you stop to think about it.

Whilst it might have possibly made for a better start to Phase 4 than an epilogue to Phase 3, Far From Home blends breezy teen road trip with suitably diverting superhero hijinks.
Far From Home was everything Marvel fans needed after Endgame, but it landed a little too soon, making a home cinema revisit considerably more pleasurable, and leaving it the perfect lighter, funnier and more frivolous antidote to the all-out war that came before – exactly what the likes of the Guardians and Ant-Man movies have been used for after game-changers like Winter Soldier, Civil War and Infinity War.
